FAQ

FAQ

Q: Why do you use bubble wrap and peanuts in your shipping containers if your company is supposed to be eco conscious?

A. Great question. Recyclability and the environment are very important to us individually and as a company. This is one of the reasons that we use glass in many of our containers. The bubble wrap and peanuts that you see in your packages are taken from packages we receive from our suppliers. Instead of throwing them away, we reuse and repurpose them as packaging material for our customers. In this way, we extend the life of the packaging. Other materials you may find in your packaging are newspaper and plain brown paper.

Q: Why are your scrub jars plastic?

A: It was a tough call. However, speaking as someone who has dropped a lot of our glass jars, we felt that plastic was a safer material to use in the bathtub. Ideally, you should scoop out some scrub and use it in the shower or bath.

Q: When I received my Shea Nilotica, it was melted. Is there something wrong with it?

A: No. Your Shea Nilotica is just fine. It simply has a lower melting point that the more common Western version. Just place it in the refrigerator for about 20 or 30 minutes and it will be fine. There are also instructions on the label.

Q: What is the difference between West African Shea Butter and East African Shea Butter (Shea Nilotica)?

A: There are several differences between the two types of Shea Butter. West African Shea is produced and exported from several countries (Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Benin, etc). East African Shea is produced in only two countries: Uganda and The Sudan. We source our certified organic and fair trade Shea Nilotica from a women’s cooperative in Uganda. The East African version is softer, has a milder scent, and has a lower melting point. East African Shea Butter also has a higher olein content.

Q: What is your return policy?

A: If you’re not happy with a product, simply return it for a full refund. Products can only be refunded and cannot be exchanged. Items must have a minimum of 50% of the contents and all original packaging to qualify. Items must be returned to Kiroja within 14 days of receipt of the return authorization number. We will refund your credit card within 30 days of receiving your return. You will receive an email confirmation when the refund is received and processed. Refunds are not eligible for items arriving without return authorization numbers. Original shipping charges are not refunded in the case of a return, unless the return is a result of our error.
